We thought so!<\/p>\n<p>Although you might be eager to fly after an extended period of flight inactivity, such as being grounded due to local quarantine orders, it\u2019s important to take time to refresh your skills and regain proficiency before your next flight.<\/p>\n<p>The longer you remain inactive, the more your proficiency will degrade, and that puts your safety at risk. Remember, even if you\u2019re legally current, you may not be proficient. After being grounded for a period of time, you should expect a different level of performance since your last flight.<\/p>\n<p>To ease the transition back to flying, check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aopa.org\/-\/media\/Files\/AOPA\/Home\/News\/coronavirus-resources\/2020_Return-to-Flight-v4.pdf?_ga=2.195968360.559886126.1591274205-1478364816.1580225551\">Return-to-Flight Proficiency Plan<\/a>, a new guide created by AOPA and the AOPA Air Safety Institute (ASI) and sponsored by Hartzell Propeller.<\/p>\n<p>The helpful guide includes profiles for both VFR and IFR pilots returning to the skies after a break. It gives a clear, step-by-step approach to refreshing knowledge and sharpening skills, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reviewing safety videos for every stage of flight, from preflight to landing<\/li>\n<li>Simulating a flight \u2013\u00a0including normal and emergency procedures<\/li>\n<li>Refreshing your knowledge with a Flight Review of aircraft systems, aircraft performance, pilot technique, and emergencies, and instruments if applicable<\/li>\n<li>Reacquainting yourself with your airplane and avionics<\/li>\n<li>Regaining proficiency and confidence by practicing essential maneuvers with another pilot or flight instructor.<\/li>\n<li>Staying proficient by flying and training regularly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Read the complete guide <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aopa.org\/-\/media\/Files\/AOPA\/Home\/News\/coronavirus-resources\/2020_Return-to-Flight-v4.pdf?_ga=2.195968360.559886126.1591274205-1478364816.1580225551\">here<\/a>.
