Back in August 2022, the Springfield-Beckley Municipal Airport hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the National Advanced Air Mobility Center of Excellence<\/a>, or NAAMCE, in Springfield, Ohio.<\/p>\n

Located within 30 minutes of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and the Air Force Research Library (AFRL) the new facility will facilitate collaborations between the AFRL, NASA, the Ohio Unmanned Aircraft Systems Center, local colleges and universities, and private industry to support the development of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles and other Advanced Air Mobility projects. The opening of the NAAMCE is planned for September 2023.<\/p>\n

The special groundbreaking ceremony was one of the highlights of the 2022 National Advanced Air Mobility Industry Forum, which brought together over 550 people from all over the world and across the AAM industry for two days of networking, flight demonstrations, and static displays. Attendees represented OEMs, supply chain companies specializing in parts, hardware and software, infrastructure, airport and vertiport companies, and city planners who are preparing for this new ecosystem to come to their community.<\/p>\n

As an Ohio-based aviation manufacturing company, Hartzell Propeller was proud to attend the event, which further solidified Ohio\u2019s position as an aerospace industry leader and a center for collaboration, innovation, and the development of the emerging Advanced Air Mobility industry. Hartzell Propeller\u2019s Director of Advanced Air Mobility, Mitch Heaton, was in attendance to share more about Hartzell\u2019s capabilities in engineering analytics, certification skills, and world-class manufacturing technologies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event displayed the importance of how strong Ohio has become in the AAM ecosystem,\u201d said Heaton. \u201cHartzell Propeller\u2019s 105 years of experience has created many opportunities with leading AAM OEMs, but this industry also includes many newcomers to aviation. We\u2019re paying close attention to opportunities that arise to provide our expertise in custom propeller applications for Advanced Air Mobility and electric aviation solutions.\u201d<\/p>\n
